About the class
Instructor: Margaret
Bring the garden inside! No sun, soil, or horticultural skills required.
In this playful, garden-inspired workshop, you’ll learn the art of slab-building and surface design and create a set of ceramic flowers. We’ll be working with prepared slabs; the earthy stage where your forever floral shapes will take root. Along the way, we’ll share slab tips and tricks to help your flowers stand tall, sturdy, sculptural, and full of personality. From leafy cuts to finer details, you’ll press, carve, and smooth your way to a blooming masterpiece!
Together, we’ll: 🌷 Cut out flower and foliage shapes using premade templates or by creating your own!
🌷 Press in texture with stamps and tools
🌷 Score, slip, carve, and add charming extras details
🌷 Underglaze your blooms in lush color or soft, subtle tones
Choose your muse: a perfect pansy, a climbing thicket, or a fantasy bloom no one’s ever seen before. This is where ceramic technique meets creative freedom.
Experience Requirement: None! All you’ll need are some clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty, your curiosity and a splash of gardening spirit.
What to bring: Hand towel, apron, and a notebook & pen
What's included: Materials and tools for use during the workshop
What you'll be making: You’ll head home with up to 3 handbuilt stems (flowers, greenery, or a mix!) ideal for a vase or gifting to someone who definitely thought you couldn’t keep a plant alive.
Schedule: Workshop is 3 hours, but folks are welcome to stay for up to one hour of additional studio time (uninstructed) to finish up their work.
