Kurinuki 101

This beginner three-day workshop will focus on the Japanese building method of Kurinuki. We'll explore the ins and outs of this age-old technique, quite literally taking the "ins" out of solid blocks of clay to reveal resilient pieces, full of charm and personality! We'll be looking at creating sweet, sectioned serving dishes, cozy incense burners, and more.

Day one will be full of demos, planning, and the creation of our base forms, ready to shape, carve, and perfect with finishing touches the following 2 weeks. Students can expect 2-3 finished projects, depending on size and will choose their final glaze color.

• Schedule: Saturday Sep 7 (Building), Saturday Sep 14 (Carving), & Saturday Sep 21 (Decorating)
