About the class

Spend six weeks diving into the world of ceramic surface design with three featured artists, each bringing their own distinct visual voice and approach to working with clay.
Designed as a playful, power-packed sampler of surface techniques, this series gives students the chance to experiment with a wide range of decorative processes through demonstrations, guided exercises, and hands-on making. Across six weeks, we’ll explore carving, transfers, slip work, underglaze, Mishima, texture, pattern, and more — all while building confidence with surface and discovering new ways of making marks, layering imagery, and bringing personality into ceramic work.
Using each week’s demonstrations as a jumping-off point, students will be encouraged to experiment freely, combine techniques in unexpected ways, and develop surfaces that feel uniquely their own.

Week 1+2: Making, Slip Trailing + Newsprint Transfer — led by Angela
Week 3+4: Underglaze, Carving + Sgraffito — led by Beth

Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know 7 days before your class/workshop begins. We are unable to offer refunds, transfers, or exchanges within 7 days of the start of a class/workshop for any reason. Any refunds issued are subject to a 5% processing fee.

Studio Access: Our main entrance includes a set of steps. However, an alternative accessible entrance is available upon request.
Transportation of Clay: The average weight of a new bag of clay is 25 pounds. We are prepared to assist if you require assistance with transporting heavier items.
