Morning Ceramics is delighted to be hosting Chicago based artist Laura Williams on the West Coast portion of her workshop tour!

Originally from the UK, Laura has spent the last 10+ years deep in the ceramics world, mixing her own production work with instruction, traveling workshops, and countless forms of meaningful community building.

Laura’s body of work is both neatly polished as well as wildly colorful & expressive. Her forms are a collection of bright and playful wares, highlighting a conversation between the clay, color, and form. Laura often describes “playing in her studio”, as she illustrates designs onto her pieces using a strong mix of terra sigillata, underglaze, and underglaze pencil. 

In her own words, she describes her end pieces as “functional paintings or sculptures you can use.”
